Learning Phenomenology of Practice

An invitation to inquiry, reflection, and phenomenological writing.

Phenomenology is learned not only through reading philosophical texts, but through the practice of attending carefully to lived experience, asking questions, and writing in ways that allow meaning to emerge.

The Phenomenology of Practice Project offers opportunities for guided study in phenomenological research and writing. Courses bring philosophical readings into conversation with concrete examples, reflective exercises, and participants' own emerging inquiries.

Introduction to Phenomenology of Practice: Research and Writing

A 12-week guided course

This introductory course is designed for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners who wish to explore phenomenology of practice as an approach to understanding lived experience.

Through selected readings, examples of phenomenological writing, guided activities, and opportunities for conversation, participants begin to develop their own phenomenological questions and ways of writing reflectively about experience.

The fee for the twelve-week Introduction to Phenomenology of Practice: Research and Writing course is CAD $425.

A limited number of reduced-fee places may be available at CAD $275 for participants whose financial circumstances would otherwise make participation difficult. These arrangements may be discussed confidentially before enrolment.

How the Course Works

The course combines independent study with four live online gatherings. Participants engage with philosophical readings, examples of phenomenological inquiry, and guided exercises in attentive description and writing.

There are no conventional grades. Instead, participants work toward an exploratory piece of phenomenological writing and receive individualized feedback to support their continuing inquiry.
